Ideological Influencing in the Czechoslovak Children's Magazines of the 1970s
Vondráčková, Kateřina ; Rákosník, Jakub (advisor) ; Pullmann, Michal (referee)
(in English): The aim of this thesis is to characterize ideological influence on the Mateřídouška magazine's pages in years between 1969-1979. The stress is laid down on the reader and their right to have a proper childhood in the period of so-called "normalization". I tried to solve the problem by analysing the previous evolution of the magazine and a consecutive analysis of given period's selected volumes. The research did show that Mateřídouška does place a great stress on tradition and it is necessary to evaluate it as a whole unit. Despite the outstanding return to the real socialism the ideology does assume a specific form. On the basis of discovered facts we can characterize this form in a more precise way and present a picture that children could have seen and read on the pages of Mateřídouška. Klíčová slova (anglicky): Czechoslovakia, social history, period of normalization, propaganda, ideology, children's magazine, Mateřídouška, fairy tale, childhood
Cult of personality and children's reader. The image of communist functionaries in magazines for children from 1948 to 1955
Hlaváčková, Alexandra ; Šedivá Koldinská, Marie (advisor) ; Michela, Miroslav (referee)
(in English): This bachelor's thesis is focused on the manifestations of the cult of communist functionaries in Czechoslovakia between years 1948 and 1955, specifically on the cult of personality in children's magazines (Jiskry, Vlaštovička, Mateřídouška, Ohníček, Pionýr, Pionýrské noviny, Práce pionýrů). The thesis is namely about Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin, Klement Gottwald, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, Antonín Zápotocký and Zdeněk Nejedlý. The author used discourse analysis as a method. The research deals with the image of these individuals, with the facts of their lives that are presented as significant. The analysis points out attributes ascribed to these historical figures; there is sameness, but on the other hand there are also distinctions in the way of representing these politicians.
Education in the getto Terezín (based on the analysis of the magazines published by the children)
Vavrová, Věra ; Váňová, Růžena (advisor) ; Valenta, Josef (referee)
This thesis deals with the subject concerning the education of jewish children in the ghetto Terezín during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. It is focused on how the results of the tutors' and the teachers' educational influence are reflected in the magazines illegally written by jewish children in 1942 - 1944. The quotations from four selected magazines and their content analysis prove the reflexion of the education in the children's literary work. They apparently show a positive influence of the Terezín educational conception ("education in and for a community") and a personal example of the adults who worked with the children - the tutors and the teachers.
Metamorphoses of the magazines for children and adolescents published before and after 1989
Bognárová, Ester ; Bílek, Petr (advisor) ; Králíková, Andrea (referee)
The aim of this thesis was to describe metamorphoses that have occurred in children's magazines, which were published before 1989 and whose publication continued after the Velvet Revolution. Comprehensively are analysed magazines Mateřídouška and ABC mladých techniků a přírodovědců (from the originally planned six journals, which meet the selection criteria) since their inception to the present, on the basis of selected years in five- year intervals. Although the description of the literary component constitutes the basis of this thesis, attention is also given to the overall content and appearance, particularly the influence of political events on given periodicals. The assumption was that the biggest changes in all examined aspects occurred in Mateřídouška and ABC mladých techniků a přírodovědců after 1989. Carried out the research, it was found that in the case of both magazines same trends occurred on their pages: articles, reports and literary component have been gradually replaced by an amusing component, e.g. contests, quizzes, riddles (even before 1989); literary component significantly decreased in both cases after 2000; after the Velvet Revolution, both periodicals can be described as apolitical (whereas until 1989 its content was strongly influenced by political events in our country).
